I just read in Tampa Bay Times that Warren Sapp will have his number retired, and that only Lee Roy Selmon has his number retired. I'm not crazy..I was at the Mike Alstott retirement celebration in 2008....how does a major news paper make a mistake like that? Steve in Leto

A:Actually they did not make a mistake, and you are not going crazy either. You did not witness that Alstott event in another universe, parallel or otherwise! That was simply a retirement celebration for the A-Train, and the Bucs PRESENTED Alstott with his jersey in both Red and Orange, but they did NOT retire his number that day. They simply do not give out #40 to anyone, nor will anyone wear a #55, #47, #20, and I'm pretty sure the Glazer regime has recognized the Bucs history by witholding Ricky Bell's #42 as well. So Alstott's number is not retired, but it's not easilly given out either.
